How To Survive a Nuclear Bomb 2
How to Survive a Nuclear Bomb 4
Quick, I need a radio! Right, this could be where we get expensive and super complicated if not for the fact that I’m on the cheap side and super complicated makes me super sleepy. Plus we don’t need expensive or complicated.
Until recently I thought that all electronics would be destroyed by the resulting EMP from a nuclear blast, I have to revise that. Most electronics might be destroyed but if they are stored inside a Faraday cage they will probably be O.K. “So now I need a Faraday cage? Whatever the hell that is!” Slow down, a Faraday cage is an insulated metal box or cage. If you have a car than you already have a Faraday cage. So as long as you store the radio inside the car you should be good to go. Chances are that this will also protect the electronics in you car, so that should be O.K. as well. Good news.
“Alright smart guy, what kind of radio? A.M., F.M., Weather band, airport, Short wave…..?” Good question, write this down… you need an A.M. radio.
Unless the entire United States is destroyed in a few days a rescue force/plan will be mobilized, they are going to seek to communicate with you by all means possible including A.M. radio. More than likely your T.V. and internet will be out, if not, check there but if it is listen to your friendly little A.M. radio. You could get a crank radio or a battery operated one, just make sure that you have plenty of fresh batteries. Here are 2 radios that fit the bill nicely.
